In Fear

In fear was released on November 15 2013 and was directed by Jeremy Loverlings. It is an independent film which you are able to watch in independent cinemas but not on the internet.

On the internet I was not able to find much on In Fear but I was able to find out a little bit. I know that the production company is called Big Talk Productions which have done many other numerous films that we have heard of; Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010), Paul (2011), Attack The Block (2011), Sight Seers (2012) and The World's End (2013).

They have been reviewed by a site called Film School Rejects. (http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/reviews/sundance-2013-review-in-fear-rhunt.php) From the name of the site we already know that they movie was not very good to have gotten on this website.

They have used different types of marketing stratergies to get viewers such as having a traier which could be watched on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5ZbJgUOwwU. They also have facebook page but only a couple of hundred people like it: https://www.facebook.com/InFearUK, in addition they aso have interviews with the actors about the film:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_XU1Gtq3VY

Apart from that information I wasn't able to find anything else on the movie. This could be because it is an independent movie and not a lot of people have heard of it. All in all it is a hard movie to know about unless you know that you want to watch it.

In Fear

In Fear

'In fear' release in the Uk ,this autumn on Friday,November 15th 2013.

‘In Fear’ marks the directorial debut of TV veteran Jeremy Lovering. Set on the back roads of Northern Ireland, the low-budget film stars Iain de Caestecker and Alice Englert as a pair of strangers travelling together to a music festival whose journey becomes a nightmare when they’re stalked by a group of masked locals.

I have found several marketing strategies that have been used to promote the movie ,such as their own Facebook page, interviews  and through trailers.

Although I have tried to research as much as i could on 'In Fear' ,it has been much more challenging than researching for Thor 2 as 'In Fear' hasn't been released yet and is quite unpopular in the UK at the moment.

Evaluation - What We Learned

What we learned from making the our Freddie vs Jason Swede

We each became a prosumer. We viewed trailers and other Freddie vs Jason parodies (consume), and then went on to produce a product also to be consumed by other web users. We came to realise how time consuming creating a media product really is, opening our eyes to the hard work professional producers, editors and directors undergo.

It also made us more aware of the process of synergy. Products that promote one another is mutually beneficial to themselves as well as the audience. For example, many frequently eat out at the fast food restaurants McDonald's, but not all of them may be involved in social networks. Media products are know to promote via social networking but if McDonald's was to also assist the promotion of that particular product through packaging or posters, a wider range of audiences would witness its advertising. Unfortunately, due to our limited resources we were unable to include this process during our marketing strategy. On the upside, we managed to create a Facebook page, a twitter page and posters to support our advertising.

Like the synergy process, cross media convergence was not able to be included in our exhibition process. On the other hand, convergent technologies proved very much useful. We were able to send texts messages and youtube links relating to our swede through our smartphones which increased our audience interest.

Using the world wide web to distribute our swede was also a success, a very small success but a success. We gained 140+ views within 2 weeks. This is because the film industry had become more democratic due to the development of technology over time.

What I've Learned from making the swede

WHAT I'VE LEARNED FROM MAKING A SWEDE

I'v learnt that anyone can make any kind of video from a swede to an actual movie. We now have the technology that we didn't have back then. Everyone now a day is a prosumer which is a person who consumes things from the internet and be able to put things up on the internet. Even if it's just a post on Facebook you are still putting things up on the internet.
While making our swede we became prosumer because we watched trailers and clips of  Freddy vs Jason to help make our swede.

We haven't been able to use synergy in our process of making our swede. Synergy is when you use other products to promote your product ad vice versa. An example of this would be The titanic movie plays the song of Celine Dion called 'My heart will go on'. The song is featured in the movie and in the music video you have clips of the movie. They promote each other and so are mutually benefitted.

Our swede didn't include any cross media convergence because weren't a big movie. In hollywood movies you don't much of cross media convergence. One particular movie did include this though, Sky fall 007. In Skyfall the movie it included the song of 'Skyfall' by Adele. This is a cross media convergence because you couldn't have one without the other.

We definitely used convergent media because we used the macs which have final cut pro to edit our swedes and usually you would do that manually but now  they two have converged and so became convergent technology. Apart from that we did not use any other convergent technology.

We were able to get a lot of people to watch our swede but i think we were also able to get people from different continents to watch our swede and this is our global audience. This was all possible because we uploaded it on youtube and that is on the internet.

Without the internet or the technology that we have now, we wouldn't have been able to do what we've achieved. The internet now has made the film industry more democratic.

What we have learned from making our swedes

From making the swede became prosumer because we produced the content and consumed it on the internet.First we watched Freddy Vs Jason then we produce our own film.Synergy was also used with all of our social media sites and blog so fans can stay up to date.
I also learned about cross media convergence where companies will create media which is linked to their film in order to promote it and the media created is also promoted in/by the film,it was used in our group when we created our posters for our swede ;these were all linked to the film but would not necessarily have been created if the swede wasn't.

Global audience was also featured because people all over the world watch our video because youtube is a worldwide phenomenom.
What we have learnt from making our swedes

From the experience of making a swede I have learnt that anyone can produce a film.
Prosumer ; I have consumed and produced work through watching clip from movie Freddie V.S Jason and interpreting my own ideas in to my swede .This was a two way process ,  as I have produced content to be consumed on the internet.

Cross media convergence
I used cross media convergence in the process of our swede making ,as i have designed poster which have been promoted on several social networking websites and have been shared to alert others the release dates of the swede ,This helped as it supported the swede ,as people were convinced by our posters which increased number of views and related  well to our swede.

For example The song 'Sky fall ' by Adele was written especially for the film 'SkyFall ', the lyrics in this song relates to the words which supports the film and persuades Adele's fans to watch the movie as she takes part of it.

Convergent technology
Convergent Technology is hugely important for the communicating with audiences ,gaining a fan base and engaging fans. This was used for the swede i created with my group as my family member and friends saw my swede through their smart phones and laptops on youtube.

Global audiences
Our swede had been globally distributed to all viewers on youtube. We have proof that our swede as been played in other countries. We only do this through the use of internet; the internet has helped massivily for our to be distributed.
